The Port Vell landscaping project has been completed, transforming a port space into a mixed-use urban-port space.
The main objective of the project was to transform the port, understood only as an infrastructure, into an urban space. With the introduction of vegetation and the use of natural materials, the existing spaces have been transformed, making them friendlier to use for open activities in the city. In this way, these spaces will serve, among others, to host activities of the city of Barcelona related to the nautical world // only on linkedin: // as @copaAmerica or @SaloNàutic of @FiraBarcelona.
The action has been carried out in 5 of the docks that make up the Port Vell: Moll d’Espanya, Moll del Dipòsit, Moll Sota Muralla, Moll de la Barceloneta i Moll del Rellotge. Due to its nature as a historic port, the intervention in each of the docks has been carried out characterizing and differentiating the proposed planting in each of them contextualizing it with its urban perimeter. The boundaries between the port and the city have been worked with different planting strategies to convert the current barriers into pleasant green filters, thus promoting the understanding of the infrastructure as an extension of the urban space.
